Sazlı DY House
DY House is located in Sazlı Altı, Ayvacık district of Çanakkale, within a 4-decare olive grove, and designed for year-round use.
Blending local architectural texture with a contemporary interpretation, it aims to provide a harmonious connection with the environment while ensuring a comfortable living experience.
The two-story building, featuring a reinforced concrete structural system, has been completely redesigned while adhering to its existing boundaries. The facade design incorporates local stones from the region, specifically selected from demolished old stone houses in nearby villages. These stones, with their varied tones, aim to create harmony on the facade. The front facade, which includes large windows opening to the view, is entirely clad in stone, while the weight of the stone on the side and rear facades is balanced with stucco paint to achieve an overall sense of unity.

The ground floor consists of a living room, kitchen, guest WC, and an electrical room. In the living room and kitchen design, natural oak wood and green tones are emphasized. These material and color choices reflect a design philosophy that strengthens the connection with the surrounding olive groves, promoting harmony with nature. The flooring, made of natural travertine, brings a calm and balanced atmosphere to the space.
The first floor houses a master bedroom and two guest rooms. In the master bedroom, large windows on two sides make the sea view the focal point of the space. Natural oak finishes dominate the flooring and furniture, while a palette of light pastel tones is used to balance the oak.
On the top floor, which provides access to the terrace, there is a sauna and a WC. A roof window located directly above the staircase facilitates efficient ventilation by allowing warm air to escape from the interior. The terrace is designed to offer various experiences, featuring a sunbathing area, an open-air shower, and a kitchenette made of concrete.
In the landscape design, minimal intervention was made to the natural texture of the land. At the lower garden level, directly connected to the house’s veranda, the ground was improved to create an outdoor dining area. Additionally, a fire pit was placed in the landscape area, serving as both an alternative functional point and a social interaction element.
